Celebrating 10 Years of PCORnet®: A Milestone in Patient-Centered Research
In 2014, PCORnet first received funding from the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute® (PCORI®), marking the beginning of an ambitious and transformative initiative to revolutionize healthcare research. This year, PCORnet celebrates a huge milestone—its 10-year anniversary. On behalf of PaTH, we couldn’t be more delighted to be part of such an innovative research network.
As one of the 11 original PCORnet® Networks, PaTH started with just four institutions—Johns Hopkins University, Temple University, Penn State University, and the University of Pittsburgh—representing 2.5 million patients in the Mid-Atlantic region. Today, PaTH has grown to include nine institutions, expanding from the Midwest to New England. We are incredibly proud of our network’s growth over the past decade and the diverse demographic and geographic regions we now serve.
The introduction of the PCORnet® Common Data Model in late 2014 was a pivotal moment that forever shaped the landscape of the PCORnet® Networks. This innovation has standardized millions of data points across the network into a common format, allowing for easier data sharing and enhancing the quality and consistency of research data. Though many changes have occurred over the years, both PCORnet and PaTH have exemplified a strong and unwavering commitment to patient-centered research. Here's to the next decade of groundbreaking research and collaboration! You can stay up to date on all PCORnet happenings by signing up for their newsletter. You can read the latest version here.
