Improvements coming to PaTH Datamarts
The PaTH informatics teams will be updating their Common Data Models (CDMs) from version 6.1 to 7.0 in July. Here’s a preview of some of the improvements that a supplemental infrastructure funding award is supporting…There will be updates to the fields and contents of some tables and two entirely new tables will be added, allowing us to expand the opportunities for research in our network. The Demographics table will add new race and ethnicity fields based upon U.S. Office of Management and Budget (OMB) standards released in March 2024. The Patient Reported Outcomes table will be populated with new measures, including patient health questionnaires (PHQ) and Patient-Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System (PROMIS). The Address History table will add fields for Federal Information Processing codes at the state and county level as well as a new flag field to indicate current address. Patient generated data on weight and blood pressure will begin to be incorporated. Finally, two new tables are being created, the External Medication table and the Patient Relationship table.
All together, these Common Data Model expansions and improvements increase the information gathered directly from patients about their health care experience and provide new opportunities for our investigators to explore various influences on health outcomes as they work to improve health and health care at each of our network sites.
