On September 11th , PaTH hosted the very first PCORnet ® Regional Roadshow. Held at the University Club on the Pitt campus, attendees included investigators from over 35 institutions, patient partners, and representatives from PCORI and PCORnet ®. The meeting had two goals: to help researchers and patient partners learn about PCORnet® resources & processes for multi-site patient-centered research, and to build connections across Clinical Research Networks (CRNs).

The agenda began with presentations from both PCORI and PCORnet ®, designed to increase participants’ awareness of the available funding opportunities, as well as their understanding of the process of working with PCORnet ® data. Following this, Raj Shah (RUSH University Medical Center), Mike Kappelman (UNC Chapel Hill), and Betsy Chrischilles (University of Iowa, GPC Principal Investigator) each presented a current multi-site study that illustrated their use of PCORnet ® resources. The day was rounded out with discussions centered around three disease-specific areas: cancer, endocrine and metabolic health, and substance use disorders. These discussions were particularly lively, and we hope that they will lead to many fruitful collaborations.

Feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with 97% of participants saying that they were “satisfied” or “very satisfied” with the event. Attendees appreciated the opportunities to network and the focus on engagement. We’d like to thank everyone that attended, either in-person or virtually, and we hope to see you again at a future event!
